Perhaps an ocean apart but connected through issues of tribal sovereignty and cultural survival, the artists in the exhibition Understandably Connected create a moment of sharing. Tipene brings her interactive installation From the Teacup for its U.S. debut where she chronicles thoughts and hopes from visitors to create lively conversations over a cup of tea. A new print series by Yazzie and figurative ceramics by Jakeman consider shared experiences in Indigenous communities.

In this spirit, Jakeman has also curated the accompanying exhibit Telling Stories and Keeping Connected and Yazzie has organized Pocahontas meets Hello Kitty. These exhibits include prints, paintings, and multi-media works by more than 40 artists.
