Federal Housing vs. Traditional Chickee. Chickees were the traditional housing for the Seminoles in the Everglades. The floors are raised, the side walls open, and the roof thatched - a reasonable solution to the weather and creature problems in the swamps. This type of structure is no longers used for housing, but has been kept in use by the tribe for other uses. (verso, in pen)
