Biography
Ralph Roybal is an Albuquerque artist who devotes his talents to creating bronze sculptures of the American West. He worked in the Santa Fe Foundry and the Dell Weston Studio Foundry. Work at foundries gradually led to full-time sculpture work in 1985. Twelve years of apprenticeship enriched and enabled this sculptor to create some of the finest bronze sculpture in the Southwest. His work is marked by his use of many rich polychrome patinas. This is the hallmark of his work and started when very few were aware of its beauty.
His studio allows him to create and complete all but the casting. He insists on doing the final detailing and applying the patinas. Each bronze is signed, numbered and marked with his copyright. Roybal was the 2010 Contemporary Hispanic Market first-place winner in sculpture in July 2010 in Santa Fe, N.M.
