Biography
Phyllis Johnson Cerna was an extremely prolific, accomplished and influential Maricopa potter throughout the 1990s. She taught pottery at the Hoo-Hoogam Ki Museum on the Salt River Reservation during that time. Her family ties—her mother Vesta Bread, an important and talented mid-century potter and her mother-in-law, the celebrated Mabel Sunn only added to her qualifications as an accomplished potter.
