Biography
Michael Dangeli has apprenticed under his uncle, Randy Adams of Prince Rupert, as well as with David Boxley, who is an Alaskan Tsimshian artist. Dangeli was a member of the Tsimshian Hauyuuk Dancers and now belongs to the Git Hayetsk Dancers. He studied oral history and protocol from his grandmother Louise Baiton-Dangeli and has created a program called the "House of Culture" which offers classes and workshops. In 2008, Mike had his first solo exhibition called 'Traditionally Contemporary: The Art of Mike Dangeli' at the Copper Wolf Gallery in Vancouver. Dangeli creates masks, rattles, paddles, box drums, regalia, prints, and totem poles.
