Biography
Marcella Yepa, a member of the Sun Clan, began working with clay at the age of 19. She was inspired to learn the art of working with clay from her aunt, Alvina Yepa and her grandmother, Felipita Yepa. It was her grandmother who shared with her the fundamentals of hand coiling traditional pottery. She showed Marcella which hills provided the best clay to work with and some special techniques to use to create beautiful pottery. Throughout the years, Marcella developed her own unique style specializing in hand-coiled contemporary swirl and melon style pottery often incorporating two or more colors of clay into a beautiful piece of pottery. Marcella Yepa has won numerous awards in several competitions; her pottery is quite collectable and sought after by galleries.
