Dancing is an integral part of Laguna culture. Some dances are social while others are deeply spiritual. Dances may celebrate particular events - historical or recent. Some are held publicly while those with deep religious significance are held in private settings, and photographs are strictly forbidden.

I have captured images of dancers throughout my career, including images of Eagle Dancers, Buffalo Dancers, Deer Dancers, and others. Laguna Eagle Dancers are well known for their beautiful and graceful representation of this magnificent raptor. (Marmon, Laguna Pueblo: A Photographic History, p.86)
