Memo / Artist Statement
This artwork was a cover illustration for the book "Home to Medicine Mountain" by Chiori Santiago, and illustrated by Judith Lowry. The story is set in the 1930s about two young brothers being sent to a government boarding school. Lowry's illustrations are inspired by the stories she heard from her father and uncle. The lyrical narrative and compelling paintings blend memory and myth into this bittersweet story of the boys' journey home one summer. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/1292853
