John Hank is son to Marilyn Hank Otton and brother to Harry Hank, grandson to Eunice and Carl Hank. John Hank is an Inupiaq Native of Alaska who was born in Pt. Barrow, Alaska.
John learned to make baleen baskets from his mother, Marilyn Hank Otton, who learned from her parents. His grandparents were well-known expert weavers, Carl and Eunice Hank.
