Memo / Artist Statement

There appears to be two varieties of I'she, the Mustard Green Kachina. One type has elongated eyes like the Squirrel Kachina and wars a ring of eagle feathers on top of the head. The second variety is closest to the one portrayed by Bahnimptewa. Both represent the Mustard Green and its appearance in early spring as a wild food. (Wright 1973: 156)
