Biography
Frances Salazar was born in 1936 from the Santa Clara Pueblo. Frances’ mother, Flora Naranjo taught her how to make pottery. In 1951 Frances became an active potter and has won awards at the Heard Museum and the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos. Frances specializes in carved and painted blackware and redware. Frances used common, favorite motifs and designs on her pottery such as water serpents, kiva steps and feathers. Frances’s pottery has been shown and featured in Arizona Highways and Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Magazine.
