Biography
Chris Teller, “Pe-ou” Misty was born into the Isleta-Tewa Pueblo in 1956. She began experimenting and working with clay when she was 17. She is the daughter of the famous Stella Teller who made storytellers and clay sculptures. Chris was motivated to carry on her mother’s tradition. Chris specializes in handmade storytellers, nativity’s, and clay sculptures. Chris is also familiar with hand coiling and produces hand coil friendship pots, traditional pottery and wedding vases which are executed with ancient methods. Chris collects her own clay within the Isleta Pueblo and then sifts, shapes and paints the clay and fires her pottery outdoors. Chris Teller has received numerous awards: 1989 New Mexico State Fair 1st Place, 1995 Santa Fe Indian Market 1st Place and 1996 New Mexico State Fair 2nd Place.
