Biography
Catherine Nelson Rodriguez is a gifted artist whose art is highly personal, reflecting her difficult family history and the harsh realities of life in some Native communities. Reeling from a series of tragedies, Nelson-Rodriguez learned to paint as a creative outlet to express her feelings of alienation as a young woman. Since then, her art has been shown in several exhibitions, including at American Indian Contemporary Arts in San Francisco, the Mingei International Museum in San Diego, and the Robert Freeman Art Gallery on the Rincon Indian Reservation. Her work can also be found in the permanent collection of the National Museum of the American Indian. (https://theautry.org/node/12186)
