Memo / Artist Statement
This Navajo weaving by Betty B. Roan (b.1935) of St. Michaels, Arizona is woven in the Burntwater style with hand spun natural wool and vegetal dyes. Betty is part of the Roan family that is well known for their vegetal dye pieces. This weaving was made in 1992. She is primarily known for her Wide Ruins design weaving but occasionally wove the more geometric patterns.
