In the Fall of 1973, the C.N. Gorman Museum officially opened its doors to the public with an exhibition of contemporary Indian art. Commemorating the museum’s 40th anniversary, this exhibition features works by foundational artists in the genre of Native American painting from 1925-1980, assembled from the collections of the California Academy of Sciences and the C.N. Gorman Museum.
